Suryalayam provides public-interest information and official-route guidance

We publish awareness content, official-route guidance and referral-style resource pages that help visitors reach the right public authority, helpline or verified source faster.

For urgent danger, contact emergency services or local police directly. For legal matters, contact a qualified advocate or the Legal Services Authority. For medical or mental-health emergencies, contact qualified medical professionals or emergency services.

Volunteer safeguards

Volunteer Code of Conduct

This code protects the public, volunteers and Suryalayam from unsafe claims, privacy violations, financial misuse and unlawful interference.

Core rule

Volunteers may support public-information work only. They must not act as rescuers, police, lawyers, doctors, counsellors, guardians, investigators, mediators or official case handlers.

Respect privacy

  • Do not ask survivors or children for private case details.
  • Do not request photographs, identity documents, medical records or police documents.
  • Do not share screenshots, names, addresses, phone numbers or case details publicly.
  • Do not discuss private matters in groups or social media.

Use official routes

  • In immediate danger, guide people to emergency services or local police.
  • For cybercrime, guide users to the official cybercrime portal.
  • For legal aid, guide users to NALSA, State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authority.
  • For child-safety issues, use official child-protection and emergency routes.

No money rule

  • Do not ask for donations.
  • Do not accept service fees.
  • Do not collect travel money, document charges or emergency money.
  • Do not use Suryalayam name for fundraising.

Communication rule

  • Be respectful, factual and calm.
  • Do not blame victims or families.
  • Do not threaten any person or organization.
  • Do not promise outcomes that depend on police, courts, hospitals or authorities.

Breach of code

Suryalayam may remove any volunteer from public-support activity if they collect money, misuse the name, contact vulnerable people without permission, publish private information, create false claims, or act outside the public-information role.
